General

Many beer and home brew events take place throughout the year all around the world. Make sure you get the most out of the time by following these tips.

Know the schedule

Depending on the event you’re going to, there’s a good chance that there’ll be plenty of amazing experts and other home brewers who will be sharing their wisdom and you want to make sure you get a chance to take on board what they have to say. Whether you’re going for a one day, weekend or a week event, there’s going to be something that’s helpful to you and your brewing. Do your research before you get to the venue, make sure you know the seminars/ sessions you’d like to attend and if the information is available make sure you make a note of the time and location and then plan the rest of your day around them.

Drink plenty of water and eat plenty of food

This sounds obvious but it’s worth saying. You don’t want to the person that has to leave early due to feeling ‘under the weather’. Make sure you get plenty of water and food, most brewing events have some amazing food to try too.

Speak to the exhibitors

There are many exciting companies who turn up to these events. Yes, they are there to sell products but more than that, they are there to connect with the clients and to be available for you to ask some questions about their products. So make sure you drop by and say hi to some of your favourite companies but also be respectful, if it looks super busy, come back on a quieter time. Oh, and don’t forget to take your wallet, there’s going to be some amazing products there for you to pick up.

Connect with other brewers

Unless you’re really blessed to be part of a home brew club or have some friends who home brew, you might be feeling alone. This is your chance to meet new people over a cold beverage that hopefully will become friends for life. Make sure you take a notebook or have your phone ready to exchange contact details.

Pick up a few free samples

This is your chance to give something a try that you normally wouldn’t use. For example, you’ll probably find plenty of companies giving away items such as yeasts, glasses, hops etc. Make sure you take advantage of the products.

Have fun

We’ve put this right at the end of our list because it’s probably the most obvious but it’s also the most important tip we can give you. Whether you’re there for the beers, products, talks or a bit of everything, just make sure you fun & hopefully we’ll see you at some future events.

Keep brewing!
